Meet Dr. Zachary Mellion
The family practice of Mellion Orthodontics has been providing care to the community for over three decades. Drs. Joseph and Nicholas Mellion, brothers and natives of Akron, OH, opened their orthodontic practice in 1980, and were joined in 2006 by Dr. Joe's oldest son, Dr. Zachary Mellion. In 2010, Dr. Nathan Mellion, son of Dr. Nick, joined the practice, and in 2013, Dr. Alex Mellion, the youngest son of Dr. Joe, also joined the practice. Drs. Joe, Nick, Zach, Nate, and Alex provide orthodontic treatment for both children and adults, including individuals that require special needs, cleft palate treatment, TMJ therapy, and multidisciplinary care. Drs. Joe, Nick, Zach, Nate, and Alex are committed to supporting the communities while also participating in many professional organizations and serving on the Craniofacial Team at Akron Children's Hospital.
Dr. Zachary J. Mellion
Dr. Zach earned his D.M.D. degree at Case Western Reserve University in 2004 and his Master's degree in Orthodontics at Saint Louis University in 2006. Dr. Zach received the 2007 Thomas M. Graber Award, which recognizes one of the top research studies in orthodontics. In 2013, the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics awarded Dr. Zach the Dewel Award, which is given annually to the highest-rated clinical research article. Dr. Zach has served as Chairman for the Subcouncil on the New Dentist at the Ohio Dental Association and currently sits on the Executive Committee for the Akron Dental Society. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Zach and his wife, Dr. Keira, a veterinarian, live in Akron with their three children and Golden Retriever, Kozmo. Dr. Zach loves riding his bike throughout the year and enjoys anything the outdoors has to offer.
